VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – A car seat giveaway is just days away in Virginia Beach, but space is limited!
It is happening Wednesday, June 3, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Hall Toyota on Laskin Road.
MileOneCares is the philanthropic arm of Hall Toyota Virginia Beach under MileOne Autogroup. It is giving away 250 car seats to local families. The focus is on new, expecting parents or caregivers.
“It’s really special, and it’s been amazing being able to see the number of seats we’ve been able to provide, and also for people who maybe are not using the proper seat or, you know, don’t have a seat for their child. It just feels really great to be able to give back and be able to help them to keep their families safe,” said Erin Bessey, VP of Operations at Hall Toyota.
According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA), motor vehicle crashes remain a leading cause of death for children in the United States. Properly installed and used car seats reduce the risk of deadly injuries by 71% for infants.
Child Passenger Safety Technicians from the Virginia Beach Fire Department will be at the June 3 event to answer questions you might have about installing the car seat properly. Roughly 50 spots are left, and you do have to register to be eligible for the free car seat.

If you aren’t able to make it to next Wednesday’s event, Hall Toyota will hold another car seat giveaway in September. WAVY.com will let you know when registration for that event opens.
According to a news release, “MileOne Autogroup launched its MileOneCares Car Seat Community Program in 2022. To date, the program has distributed 7,700 car seats, representing a donation value of at least $675,000.”
