MARYLAND

ShareBaby - Maryland

ShareBaby seeks to address the unmet basic needs of Baltimore's most vulnerable young children through the distribution of diapers and other essential items.

ShareBaby is powered by volunteers who make it possible for them to get millions of donated items to Baltimore's babies in need. Each volunteer session looks a little different, but typical tasks include counting and sorting clothing, wrapping diapers, and bundling items.

First Fruits Farm - Maryland

First Fruits Farm is a nonprofit dedicated to providing fresh, nutritious food for the hungry through volunteer service and community partnerships. 100% of everything the Farm grows is donated to feed children and adults who are struggling with hunger and access to healthy food.  

During volunteer sessions, you will lead volunteer groups in the fields, assist staff with crop and animal care, complete jobs around the property (maintenance, painting, etc.), and become more deeply involved with the operations.

Volunteer Sessions run from July - October
Tuesday - Saturday mornings, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM.

Helping Up Mission - Maryland

Helping Up Mission helps men and women fighting addiction and homelessness get their lives back. Their comprehensive recovery programs address root issues of substance abuse and poverty. 

Volunteer sessions include an opportunity for kitchen duty, educational tutoring, prayer partners, special event help, and professional pro bono services for both men's and women/children centers.

Athletes Serving Athletes - Maryland

Athletes Serving Athletes (ASA) elevates the quality of life for individuals with limited mobility by empowering them to train for and participate in mainstream running events. 

ASA offers both running and non-running volunteer opportunities:

  • Running Opportunities - Wingmen are the runners who volunteer their legs and hearts to help achieve an ASA Athlete's goal of participating in mainstream running events. Wingmen also raise funds and awareness about the program, so that more ASA Athletes can cross the finish line.
  • Non-Running Opportunities: Help distribute water during races.

Meals on Wheels - Maryland

For seniors throughout Central Maryland, Meals on Wheels does more than deliver nutritious meals. They provide support and safety-net services that help sustain health, promote independence, maintain economic stability, and improve overall quality of life. 

Volunteer for Meals on Wheels and you can deliver meals, help pack meals or grocery shop for those who are homebound.

Baltimore Hope Lodge - Maryland

The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge program provides a free home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers. More than just a roof over their heads, it's a nurturing community that helps patients access the care they need. Each Hope Lodge community offers a supportive, homelike environment where guests can share a meal, join in the evening's activities, or unwind in their own private room. 

Once per month, MileOne will serve dinners to the families who are staying at The Lodge. Volunteers are responsible for setting up, serving and cleaning up the dinner. They will also have the opportunity to eat dinner with the patients.

Car Seat Events - Maryland

MileOneCares is committed to distributing car seats to families in need. Our goal is to distribute 1,000 seats in 2023. We do this by hosting car seat education and distribution events in every division. Volunteers help with check-in as well as open and distribute car seats to the participants.

PENNSYLVANIA

Fork Over Love - Pennsylvania

Fork Over Love partners with independent restaurants to purchase hot, nutritious meals to distribute to the community for free. 

Every week Fork Over Love needs volunteers to help them pack and distribute dinners in the community. You can expect to be on-site for 90 minutes. They also need help for events.

Keystone Alliance - Pennsylvania

Keystone Alliance is an Evangelical, faith-based nonprofit organization that seeks to share the hope of the Gospel with all who enter their doors. Men and women enter their buildings seeking food, clothing, services and programs, and the hope of a transformed life. 

Join the volunteer program and work on the front lines with their staff in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre. Cook a meal, sort clothing, play a game with the guests, teach a class, and more. Donate goods that will stock their shelves for the programs in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre.

McGlynn Center - Pennsylvania

The McGlynn Center, a safe and welcoming place for the children and youth who reside at the Boulevard Townhomes and Mineral Springs Village, is committed to service and education. The Center provides after-school tutoring, recreational and cultural activities in a safe environment at no cost to the children. 

Volunteers needed for after-school tutoring/homework help, summer programs, and life-skills educational program.

Habitat for Humanity Wyoming Valley - Pennsylvania

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing organization working in local communities across all 50 states and in more than 70 countries around the world. Habitat's vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Downtown Daily Bread is a gateway to basic human services for hundreds of homeless and hungry individuals in Harrisburg.

Central Pennsylvania Food Bank - Pennsylvania

As a nonprofit organization, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank relies on volunteers to fulfill their vision to end hunger across Central Pennsylvania. Each year thousands of volunteers (working individually and as part of group efforts) donate tens of thousands of hours of their time to help their neighbors in need. 

By working with more than 1,100 local agencies, programs, and volunteers, they serve more than 144,000 people in need each month through our two Healthy Food Hubs, located in Harrisburg and Williamsport.

VIRGINIA

Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore

Since 1981, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, a member of Feeding America™ and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks, has been providing food for people experiencing food insecurity throughout Southeastern Virginia and on the Eastern Shore. The Foodbank has distributed over 360 million pounds of food equating to over 300 million meals throughout their 4,745-square-mile service area. 

Volunteer opportunities include working with the mobile pantry program, sorting non-perishables, creating youth friendly food backpacks, working as an office assistant etc.

Village Family - Virginia

Village Family feeds, clothes and educates every Saturday of the month. They are a partner agency with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore. Village Family's vision is to improve the quality of life for all that come to them for help. Their mission is to make sure that no one that comes to them in need goes without assistance or goes to bed hungry. 

Volunteer opportunities include clothing distribution, food distribution, holiday gift wrapping and their Annual Back to School Expo.

YWCA South Hampton Roads - Virginia

As the largest domestic violence service provider in South Hampton Roads, they offer diverse volunteer, intern, and outreach opportunities within the community promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. 

Volunteer opportunities include participating in the Shelter Meal Program, maintenance and grounds beautification for groups or individuals, and special events volunteer.

Envision Lead Grow - Virginia

Their mission is to increase the rate of entrepreneurship in today's female youth, thereby transforming communities of poverty to communities of prosperity through economic development, social justice, and promoting ownership, equity, and investment in marginalized communities around the globe. 

Envision Lead Grow's mentor program matches Girl Boss Mentors to small groups of Girl Bosses in accordance to interests, geographic location, and Envision Lead Grow cohort.
