Packing "Ready Bags" for Families with Child Cancer Patients
The team at Hall Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Virginia Beach was looking to make a real difference in their community this year using their Employee-Nominated Contributions (ENC).Â
General Manager, Abby Meeks, knew if they pulled their Employee-Nominated Contributions (ENC) together, they could make a huge impact! So when the Service Manager, Jason Mays, let everyone know about the Roc Solid Foundation, a non-profit who provides hospital bags for families with child cancer patients, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to put their ENC donation dollars to good use.
65 employees came together in support of the Roc Solid Foundation and were able to present $32,500 in monetary support to help Roc Solid get one step closer to building hope for ALL kids fighting cancer through their Ready Bag and Playset programs!
In addition to the monetary support, Hall CDJR Virginia Beach team members volunteered their time in between assisting customers and servicing vehicles to pack the Ready Bags! These bags are provided to families who have just received the difficult news that their child has pediatric cancer.
The bags are filled with essential items such as a phone charger, a cozy blanket, games and toiletries - everything a family might need for their unexpected hospital stay.
"A mom whose child is currently going through cancer treatment came by the dealership to talk to us about how the Ready Bag and the Roc Solid Foundation gave her family hope when they needed it most. It was an amazing experience to be able to pack Ready Bags for similar families, knowing the comfort it brings during such a difficult time." said Shanna Quarders, Dealership Administrator at Hall CDJR Virginia Beach.
All in all, the team was able to pack 100 Ready Bags. With these bags, Roc Solid is one step closer to achieving their mission to build hope for every child and family fighting pediatric cancer.
